Booooooo! BOOOOOO! Boo, I say! Two British men who know their way around a home-improvement store bought enough foam panels and glue to create their own rowboat! Everything was good until the paddles broke.

According to the BBC, the men had been fishing just off shore of Essex for a few days and had caught several cod. Everything was fine in their foam-and-wood boat held together with glue and coat hangers made for just over $13. When one of the paddles broke they became stuck about 700 feet off shore. Had the weather cooperated, they would have been perfectly safe.

Since neither of them had life jackets and one of the men couldn't swim, authorities insisted on DESTROYING the craft after rescuing the two fishermen and lecturing them on safety.

Anyone can have a fishing trip ruined by bad weather and malfunctioning equipment. I say they had no right to destroy the boat.
