When you see an 82-year-old onstage preparing to sing on America's Got Talent, the expectation is you'll hear something classic -- perhaps Sinatra or Elvis. Those expectations were shattered by John Hetlinger when he opened his mouth and out came, "Let the bodies hit the floor," the opening line to Drowning Pool's song "Bodies."

As the song kicked in, the studio audience leaped to their feet as Hetlinger brought the house down. The priceless expressions on the faces of AGT judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandell and Mel B. ranged from surprise to disbelief to delight. His performance will air on NBC's America's Got Talent tonight (June 7) at 8PM ET/PT.

Hetlinger, a former Navy pilot and retired program manager for the instrument that repaired the Hubble Space Telescope, did a karaoke version of "Bodies" a couple years ago that you can watch in the video below. Be sure to check out his America's Got Talent performance and chat with Simon Cowell above.

Hetlinger also has a YouTube channel where he sings everything from hymns to Jim Croce's "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" to Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog" to the country song "Trashy Women."

"Bodies" is from Drowning Pool's 2001 platinum debut album Sinner, and peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. The band is still recording and touring, with their latest album Hellelujah released earlier this year.
