The Pasco teacher strike continues. Don't think for one second they're sitting at home enjoying a bit more summer vacation. This is where the teachers are right now:This is also costing them money. Without a contract, there's no paychecks. The union begins providing money to members during a strike after a certain amount of time, but until then, they have to stretch pennies.

The main issue not addressed in negotiations, teachers say, is lack of curriculum which means it's impossible to do things like order textbooks.
The district has promised to gradually increase pay, but lack of curriculum and class sizes are still unresolved they say. Some years ago the union voluntarily agreed to never strike in return for a concession. That is leading the school district to sue the teachers union for violating that agreement. Since the breach is due to lack of curriculum -- a breach on the district's part -- the union is confident the court will side with them. Until this is resolved, this is what the teachers are up to:
