Are School Pictures Obsolete And A Waste of Money?

We all have cameras on our cell phones. We have HD video recorders on our phones. Our kid's lives are documented on Facebook. Is it really still important to order school pictures?

I have kids who've probably been photographed more than the Kennedy children. Last week I got the dreaded order form for school pictures. Packages run anywhere from $35 to $63!! Now, of course Grandmas love the school pics, but really, considering how often my kids are photographed by me, and the rest of the family, is it really necessary to have a school picture taken?
