‘Little House on the Prairie’ Movie From ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ Director Moves to Paramount
It's been over a year since we've gotten an update on the new Little House on the Prairie movie. Last we heard, David Gordon Green had exited the project and was replaced by Martha Marcy May Marlene director and indie favorite Sean Durkin. And...that's it. All's been quiet on the prairie since then. Today brings news that Little House on the Prairie has moved over to Paramount, which means the project may be closer to actually happening.
‘Finding Dory’ Teaser Spots Something Familiar
A new international teaser for Pixar’s Finding Dory has arrived online, and though it does not really offer any new footage from the long-awaited Finding Nemo sequel, it does feature the endearingly clueless Dory stumbling upon something that looks quite familiar. The film hits theaters this summer, and while it’s not a new trailer, this teaser should hold you over until more footage properly arrives.

Rumor: ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Villain Could Be This Guy
James Gunn recently took to Facebook to let fans know that he’s done addressing crazy rumors about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which is totally fair — but it also means he won’t be tweeting or Facebook-posting about this latest rumor, which potentially reveals the identity of the villain in the upcoming sequel. And it’s a big one. Bigger than Thanos…in size, anyway.
‘The Wave’ Trailer: Norway Gives Us a Masterclass in Making a Disaster Movie
American filmmakers take note: this is how you make a disaster movie. After playing a handful of international festivals last year, the first official trailer for Norwegian disaster drama The Wave has rolled in, promising a film that’s not overly concerned with the spectacle as much as the people said spectacle is actually affecting. Similar to Juan Antonio Bayona’s impressively riveting 2007 film The Impossible, The Wave does what Roland Emmerich and his acolytes are no longer interested in doing: letting us get to know and care about the people whose lives are about to be destroyed by a 300-foot wave.
Rumor: ‘Star Wars: Episode 8’ Is Getting a Slight Rewrite in Response to ‘The Force Awakens’ Reactions
Rewrites are common in filmmaking, especially for big blockbuster films, where there are so many moving parts that filmmakers sometimes need to recalibrate to keep things focused — which makes this rumor about Star Wars: Episode VIII hardly surprising. Rumor has it that Rian Johnson’s screenplay may be undergoing a few minor rewrites as a response to the reactions to The Force Awakens, and while that sentence may trigger an eyebrow raise, you should know that this is totally a good thing — if true.
‘Orange Is the New Black’ Gets Season 4 Premiere Date, New Netflix Teaser
As expected, there’s lots of big news coming from Netflix ahead of their panel at TCA ’16, and in addition to finally renewing Marvel’s Jessica Jones for Season 2, the streaming service has set a return date for Orange Is the New Black Season 4. We’re sure to learn more about the coming season once the panel commences, but expect our return to Litchfield to resolve a few of those lingering cliffhangers.
Weekend Box Office Report: ‘In the Heart of the Sea’ Flounders in the Wake of ‘Mockingjay’
While many suspected that In the Heart of the Sea would perform well in its opening weekend at the box office, Ron Howard's seafaring epic delivered incredibly underwhelming numbers, while The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 continued its reign for the fourth week in a row. That's all going to change next weekend when Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives and completely demolishes the competition — if you can even call it "competition."
SNL Brings Will Ferrell’s George W. Bush Back for a Hilarious Announcement
Maybe you didn’t realize how much you missed Will Ferrell’s George W. Bush impression on SNL until the actor popped in for a surprise appearance during the cold open, delivering a State of the Union address on our current crop of GOP presidential hopefuls — which is essentially just Ferrell’s Dubbya roasting his fellow Republicans in an attempt to make an unprecedented bid for a third term as POTUS.
‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ Trailer: They’re Coming Back
Surprise! 20th Century Fox has delivered the first full trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence (not related to Toho’s Godzilla: Resurgence, unfortunately) a wee bit earlier than previously planned. The trailer was going to debut in front of Star Wars: The Force Awakens later this week, but early Christmas has come early, and our ol’ alien pals are back.
‘Captain America: Civil War’ Trailer: It’s Time to Choose a Side
With Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans promising a big surprise on Jimmy Kimmel Live, we knew it had to be something special — that something is the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War. Not a teaser, but an actual, full trailer, dramatically highlighting the growing divide between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark, which will divide the Avengers and pit them against one another in what could be Marvel's most epic film yet.
‘Spectre’ Theme Song Announced, Sam Smith Confirmed For James Bond’s Latest
The identity of the performer chosen to sing the new James Bond theme song is almost always as exciting as the buildup to the release of the film itself — even British bookies have placed odds on which pop star would sing the theme for Spectre, with Sam Smith coming in as the heavy favorite. Smith has previously denied his involvement and feigned obliviousness, but it looks like the singer / songwriter has recorded the new Bond theme after all.
