A Virginia man is encouraging residents to install blue light bulbs on porches to show support for police officers. We love this! You know what I'm going to do? Get some blue light bulbs and then splash in a little green. Then I'm supporting police AND Seahawks! Here are 5 reasons you should hop on this trend right now:

Police have to deal with a lot of drunk people today. Definitely show your support for these people putting their lives on the line to ensure we have a safe and civil society.

An international survey asked police officers from around the world what their dumbest criminal stories were. Here are the top answers:

  • I worked on a case where a liquor store was burglarized during a snowstorm. The cops literally followed his footprints right to his front door, looked in, and saw the stolen booze on the coffee table.
  • I attended a burglary in progress at a local library. When we entered my eyes were immediately drawn to a small figure hiding under a desk. I pointed my flashlight at the man whom I now recognised as James. He was a well known local addict who was always causing trouble and had been in and out of prison from a young age. I said to him "OK James come on out, you're under arrest" and he responded "It's not me" and promptly relieved his bladder. This same man was recently out of jail for robbing the shop he lived directly above. He cut a hole through his floor and lowered himself via a rope to steal all the cigarettes and alcohol. He covered up the hole his side of the flat with his carpet. However he did nothing to cover up the hole he left in the shops roof that led directly to his home address.
  • A young man once fled on foot in our downtown area. There was an alleyway with a very tall wrought-iron fence at the front. The young man climbed over it thinking it would slow the cops down. Didn't matter, dead end alley. No unlocked doors accessible in the alley or via the fire escape. He effectively imprisoned himself. He slinked back to the front of the alley and peered forlornly through the wrought-iron bars of the fence at us and gave up. We had to get the building owner to come unlock the gate for us.
  • I investigated a robbery where the victim was trying to sell an item on craigslist. Suspect called victim, the set up a meet and promptly robbed the victim. Victim forgot to take craigslist ad down. Suspect called victim the next day from the same phone number. Victim set up a meet then contacted us.
  • Buddy of mine had his battered jalopy of a Datsun inexplicably stolen. Cops a couple counties over stopped them for an equipment violation, car was returned. Half a year later, car gets stolen again. Cops checked with the previous thieves, sure enough, same guys.
