Oscar-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones ('Chicago') briefly checked herself into a mental health center for treatment of her Bipolar II Disorder, her publicist confirmed today.

"After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check in to a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her Bipolar II Disorder. She's feeling great and looking forward to starting work this week this week on her two upcoming films," her publicist said.

A friend of Zeta-Jones told PEOPLE she checked in for about five days "because she's about to start working, and wanted to make sure she's in top form, which she is."

The 41-year-old actress has had a bit of a rough year; in 2010, her husband, Michael Douglas, was diagnosed with throat cancer. In January, he told 'Today' host Matt Lauer he had beaten it.

We wish her a full and speedy recovery.
