After it was temporarily closed in 2014 due to misuse, the Army Corps of Engineers has decided to permanently close Chiawana Island.

After a lot of waste and garbage was discovered in September of 2014, the island was closed until June of 2015.

Apparently, that wasn't enough to keep the island from becoming a garbage can.

No visitor access will be granted and their will be law enforcement patrols in place.

Hopefully, this doesn't become a trend in the Columbia Basin.
