Perhaps the perp didn't know officers like to congregate at Popular Donuts in Walla Walla.

Early Saturday morning, the "C" or graveyard shift was meeting at the location for a coffee and comparing notes and information when the sedan pictured here went whizzing by at well above the speed limit.

Officers quickly raced to their cars and proceeded to give chase down 9th Ave. As they prepared to surround the car, the driver lost control and slammed into this tree, snapping it in half.

While the suspect, 30-year-old Miguel A. Hernandez was not hurt, he was found to be heavily intoxicated. He was booked into the Walla Walla County jail for DUI and reckless driving and endangerment. The tree did manage to snap the car's axle in the collision, perhaps Mother Nature's revenge.
