When Jimi Hendrix died in 1970 they buried him in Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton, Washington, with a simple headstone.

As time went by, family, friends and fans agreed a simple headstone wasn't doing the legend justice.

The day before what would have been his 60th birthday in 2002 they secretly moved his body to a more fitting memorial. The new million-dollar memorial consists of a stone block protected by a 30-foot-high granite dome is supported by three pearl granite columns trimmed in rainbow marble.

I'm not sure why it had to be in secret, but I think we can all agree it was a good call.
