Our debit account has been hacked at least 3 times over the past couple of years. It was usually a Walmart purchase in Oklahoma or Hawaii, oddly enough. So we started using only credit cards for online shopping. Credit cards have better security and if hacked for a purchase or two, it's pretty easy to get your money back. But if you want to avoid interest on your purchases, you can still use your debit card and here's the trick:

Open a standard checking account in addition to your other accounts. Let's say you want to purchase an Instant Pot online for $79. Transfer that money from your main checking account to your standard (online use only) checking account. When the purchase clears, there's basically no money (I leave $20 extra in there all the time) left for hackers to steal!
