Dayton Company Will Turn Wheat Field Waste Into Paper Plates!

Columbia Pulp is a company seeking permission to open a factory in Dayton and near Lyons Ferry. It will turn straw left over from harvesting wheat into paper products like disposable plates!

The company is expected to bring 100 new jobs to the area as well.

Unlike Boise Cascade, smelly chemicals are not required to make the fibrous pulp.

Processing the wet straw will smell like... wet straw, the company said.

The Lyons Ferry location will take up almost 450 acres. The Dayton facility will be smaller.

It is expected to add $9 million a year to the economy.

The company hopes to be fully operational by spring 2017.
