Not only are the feds dragging their feet cleaning up Hanford (sparking numerous lawsuits from Washington and Oregon), but now they're stopping its expansion, too.

Hanford's advocates lobbied to be named a new site for radioactive medical waste disposal. This is mostly stuff from x-ray machines. The waste is low-level radioactive and very easy to store. Being a dump for the stuff is extremely lucrative and few places are as equipped to handle it as Hanford.

That's not the worst part. The worst part is the DOE said it doesn't want to pick Hanford because it's waiting for the Vit plant to be completed... YET THE DOE HAS PUSHED BACK THE COMPLETION DATE FOR THE VIT PLANT!

It may not be fully operational now until 2039.

Thanks Obama.
