Yes, you read that right. You can cut your own Christmas tree for free in the Umatilla National Forest, but there's a catch. It's a cute catch, though, so you won't be too mad. If you have a 4th grader in your family, they can get a voucher for a free tree through a program called a program called Every Kid in a Park. Just to go www.everykidinapark.gov, and follow the instructions to get the voucher.

Don't have a 4th grader at home? No worries, you can still get a permit to cut  a tree for just $5! You can pick them up in Walla Walla, Pendleton, or Pomeroy. If you've never cut your own tree, I highly recommend the experience. Truly a fun and memorable experience for the whole family!
