The city of Walla Walla estimates that they loose one billion gallons of water every year because of old leaky pipes. It turns out that Walla Walla is one of the oldest cities in Eastern Washington and the infrastructure is struggling according to news reports. The city is trying to fix the pipes but the problem is so big they have to focus on one at a time. The city just sprung another leak that is leaking 50 gallons a minute that hasn't been fixed for over a week. the city couldn't turn off the water to that part of the pipes because businesses around the leak need the water.

The city says they have fixed over 5 miles of piping which seems good until you know they have over 90 miles of pipes that are facing failure. That is not good news for a city in the middle of an area facing drought.
