During the birth of our daughter we were put up in the Ronald McDonald House in Spokane. I couldn’t believe how much they really help the families of kids that are fighting illness or recovering in the ICU.

I have done many different fundraisers in my years in radio and never gave it much thought until I actually used their services. The next time you swing into McDonalds and you look down at that donation jar, I urge you to donate because you never know if you or someone you love will ever need a place to stay to be close to a family member in the hospital.

There are 322 Ronald McDonald Houses in 57 countries, 161 Family Rooms in 19 countries, and 43 Care Mobiles in six countries. They save families an estimated $257 million on lodging and provide places for families to rest, wash clothes and shower while children are in the hospital. The mobiles provide medical services for children. The first one opened in 1974 and began expanding globally in 1981. The houses need volunteers and please, please drop money in the boxes at your local McDonald's restaurant.
