You might not know this, but if you purchased milk, yogurt, sour cream, or other milk products within the last 14 years, you might have a refund coming to you.

Washington State isn't on the list but I was living in California in 2005 and that state is on the list along with 14 other states (including the District of Columbia). The refunds are part of $52 million payout of a recent class action lawsuit associated with the National Milk Producers Federation.

The dairy industries of the states listed may have slaughtered up to 500,000 cows in order to keep milk production lower and prices of milk and dairy products higher and that facilitated the lawsuit and the investigation.

The states are: Arizona, California, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin, plus the District of Columbia.

If you have been affected like me, you can claim your refund at Bought Milk. You have until January 31, 2017 to file your claim.
