My neighbor will strive to earn the "Iron Butt" patch this August. It's a challenge whereby motorcyclists ride 1,000 miles in 24 hours to become a member of the Iron Butt Association. It sounds kind of dangerous to me!
If you want to join the association there are strict guidelines. Apparently you must check in when you start and check in along an approved route.
We did the math and at 65 miles an hour that's over 15 hours of straight riding.

The association says its purpose is to promote SAFE long-distance riding, but I think it's questionable.
