Hi, my name is Rik. I'm the new guy and voice that you're hearing weekdays on The Key. It's great to be a part of the team, but little does management know that it's taken me 22 years to get on my favorite radio station. It's a story that I have to share with you.

It was 1994 and I was working at a very small radio station in the very small town of Havre, Mont. I was looking for a new radio job. In radio, you have to send a resume and a voice demo when you apply for jobs, so I sent what I had  to Paul Drake, the boss here at The Key.

The Key has been one of my favorite stations for over 25 years, so imagine my excitement when I got a response. My excitement soon turned to disappointment, though, as I read the words Paul had written in response to my application. He simply wrote: "You're not what we are looking for." That was it!

Well ... it's 22 years later, and here I am on my favorite radio station. This time, however, I was actually invited to be a part of The Key ... by none other than Paul Drake. Yep, he asked, but I'm sure after 22 years he's long forgotten writing that rejection letter to an ambitious 23-year-old disc jockey. I do work for him now so I'll be on my best behavior. But don't think for a moment I'm not going to let him forget that letter!

It's great to finally be a part of the team -- and all kidding aside, I get to play my favorite music and talk to you daily. So in the end I'm the lucky one.
