It’s Vacation Season! — What Are the Worst ‘Tourist Traps’? [SURVEY]

Getty Images, Spencer Platt

I’m pretty good at vacationing so I’ve enjoyed almost everywhere I’ve been. If there’s one place that’s definitely a tourist trap, however, it’s Times Square. Again, I still enjoyed it, but I couldn’t believe everything closed at 9 p.m. That’s so damn early! Tell-tale sign of a tourist trap: it’s only open for the tourist buses. What advice would you give travelers?A survey on Reddit said PLYMOUTH ROCK is the biggest/worst tourist trap in the universe.

Next was the Mona Lisa (it’s small and all the paintings around it are way cooler). Third was the Leaning Tower of Pisa (what’s the point of going there other than to take stupid photos?)

Other answers included:

  • Roswell, New Mexico
  • Four Corners
  • The Corn Palace
  • Hollywood Walk of Fame
  • Navy Pier in Chicago
  • Wax museums
  • Skywalk at Grand Canyon
  • The Strip in Las Vegas
  • The Alamo
