Construction has caused traffic backups on Keene road in Richland, but that project is expected to end sometime this week or early next. The problem is that traffic relief is still a long way away for Queensgate.

The Keene project was the first of 3 projects expected to help development of the Queensgate area, according to reports.

Now construction crews will move to work on the second round-about located on Keene and Columbia Park Trail. City planners say you should start seeing flagers for early utility work soon before they start building the road.

When all three phases are done in August, there will be a new westbound right-turn lane from Keene Road onto Queensgate, two new travel lanes along that stretch, two new roundabouts, new sidewalks and bicycle lanes on both sides of the road and a new shared path that connects the Keene Road path to the I-182 path.

Be patient this summer if your driving in this area! Just remember...RELAX, it will be over soon!
