Attention Parents of Kennewick students: School boundaries will be changing. Will it affect your family?

Kennewick School District had established new elementary and middle school boundaries that will take effect the fall of 2016. The Board of Directors selected Elementary Boundary Option #4 and Middle school Boundary Option #3. All high school boundaries stay the same.

NOTE: Middle School #5 will open in the fall 2016 at the old Desert Hills Middle School building. We anticipate students and staff will move to the new building in January 2017.

SCHOOL CHOICE PROCESS

All students will be notified by mail of their boundary school by the end of November. Students who live outside of a school boundary may request a transfer, also known as School Choice, from December 1 until January 29.If space is available in the non-boundary school, priority will be given to students who will be enrolled in the 5th and 8th grades for the 2016-17 school year. The next priority will be given to district residents who live outside of their desired school’s boundary. Non-district residents will be given last consideration. Those who request a transfer will be notified of a decision by the end of February. All students approved for a School Choice request must provide their own transportation.
