Don't fool yourself, even I got Heat Exhaustion or Heat Stroke! It's crazy! And I'd be the last person I'd expect to have that happen!  A couple years ago...

I was using a sod cutter and cutting out sod to put up my pool. It was during the 112 temps! I know...stupid huh?

I started moving and stacking the sod, to be ready to put up my pool. I was rushing because I had a time line.  I wasn't even sweating and I was working like crazy! I didn't want to get dehydrated so I went and got water, but then I never drank it...

I must have been out for about 8 hours! All of a sudden I got a throbbing headache and started vomiting! I couldn't believe it! I could feel my heart pounding in my HEAD! I went in the house and continued to throw up and then finally passed out on my bed. I was so shaky and weak, I just laid there. When I woke up, I still felt awful so I thought I must have the flu.  I took my temperature and it was over 101, about 2 1/1 hours had passed so I'm guessing it was much higher before I slept.

I considered at that point that it might have been from the heat and me over working myself. But I never really knew for sure.  It took me about 4 days to feel normal.

Here's the weird thing, even now when I try to work out in the heat, I get sick to my stomach!  So bizarre!

I guess it's my body's way of asking me to 'Listen to it' so I stop now when I throw up! (Hard to get much yard work done when it's this hot though!)

So, I've resorted to paying someone to help me...

Be very careful in the heat and drink lots of water, listen to your body and take care of yourself. I didn't know it could be that dangerous and didn't think it could happen to ME!

Here's the difference between Heat exhaustion and Heat Stroke
