So long, Nicole Scherzinger — there’s a new judge in town.

The Pussycat Doll is departing NBC’s a cappella competition series ‘The Sing-Off,’ heading for ‘X Factor’ and leaving fellow recording artist Sara Bareilles to take over for her at the judges’ table.

“A cappella music is very near and dear to my heart, and I have been a huge fan of the show from the beginning,” Bareilles said in a statement. “I love the opportunity to be a part of something that celebrates a genre of music that I just adore and believe in. I can’t wait for it to start.”

Bareilles, who earned a Song of the Year Grammy nomination for her 2009 breakout hit, ‘Love Song,’ knows a thing or two about carrying a tune — as do her fellow judges, Ben Folds and Boyz II Men member Shawn Stockman. According to NBC’s Paul Telegdy, this is what sets the show apart: “Simply put, they can do what the contestants are doing, and that means a lot.”

‘The Sing-Off’ is currently casting contestants for the upcoming third season, set to begin in September.
