The last time Madonna and Lionel Richie were both in the top five on the Billboard album chart at the same time was back in 1986, with True Blue and Dancing on the Ceiling, respectively.  Well, get ready for a major flashback, because both legendary artists are about to regain their positions on the top of the chart together.

According to Billboard, Madonna's new album MDNA is headed for  big #1 debut on the album chart, with projected sales somewhere around 300 to 350,000 copies.  If MDNA does indeed debut at #1, it'll be Madonna's eighth #1 album, and her fifth straight studio disc to debut at the top of the chart.  Her last album, 2008's Hard Candy, also debuted at #1.  Madonna's first #1 album was 1985's Like a Virgin.

Meanwhile, Lionel Richie's new album Tuskegee could give the veteran star his best debut in the Soundscan era, which began in 1991, as well as his highest charting disc since 1986's Dancing on the Ceiling. Billboard reports that the album is headed for a #2 debut, in the range of 125 to 150,000 copies sold.  As previously reported, the album features Lionel singing his biggest hits with country stars like Shania Twain, Blake Shelton and Rascal Flatts.
