Matthew Hibbard Found Guilty After July 2012 Jack Didley’s Incident

It took a Benton County Superior Court jury about 45 minutes on Thursday to deliberate and return a guilty verdict against Matthew Hibbard, the general manager and head of security at Jack Didley’s in Kennewick. He has been convicted of third-degree assault with aggravating circumstance after a drunk patron, Ben Ensign, was dropped on his head outside of the night club. Sentencing will come at a later date.

Ensign, 32, required emergency brain surgery and according to prosecutors, would have died if he had not been treated. Ensign is currently in a Spokane rehabilitation facility treating the long-lasting effects of his brain trauma.
HIbbard, 41, said Ensign was being aggressive that night, and tried to run back into the bar after twice being asked to leave.
