Kennewick police say it's still an active investigation.

Wednesday, Kennewick police got a call from a tipster, about two men who visited a hardware store on Tuesday, and were looking to buy materials that are commonly used to make bombs.  It's believed it was the Lowes in Kennewick on Colorado Street.

Officials say the combination of the materials they were looking for indeed were suspicious. However the men left the store empty handed.

Police also say the call came in from a payphone outside the store, and workers saw a rolled up object sitting on top of the phone. Due to the suspicious nature of the incident, the Richland Bomb Squad was brought in but determined it was a sleeping bag inside a sleeve.

UPDATE

A followup with Kennewick police revealed that due to it being an open investigation, officials cannot divulge yet exactly what the two men were trying to buy.
