For years scientists suspected rain released "aromatics" that resulted in a distinctive smell, and also occasionally spread diseases such as e. coli. BUT THEY HAD NO IDEA HOW! Using special cameras they discovered the rain "bubbles" after impacting the ground and those bubbles release aromatics!
