Training camp started today, and that means we are that much closer to REAL football. The mighty Seattle Seahawks defense has gone through a lot of changes in 2018, especially in he secondary but that is not all bad.

There is no Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor, Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, or it seems Earl Thomas either. The good news is there have been talented players studying under them that might be ready to take a stronger roll.

Here are some of the players that you should watch this season that are about to break out and be bonified stars in the NFL.

    Frank Clark - #55

The success of the defense this year is resting on the shoulders of Frank Clark. Sure, Bobby Wagner & KJ are important, but Clark is the best player to get consistent pressure and sacks on the QB. He has played behind Bennett and Avril for the last 3 years and now is his time to shine. 10+ sacks from Clark for the year is needed.

    Shaquill Griffin - #26

Shaquill Griffin is now the #1 starting CB for the Seahawks after Sherman left for the 49ers. Everything Griffin did last year points that he is ready for that pressure this year and should have a great year. Everyone close to the team says Griffin looks great at camp. Lets hope he strikes fear in QB's this year the way Sherman did in the past. He will have to work well with McDougald this year if Earl is not around.

    Bradley McDougald - #30

Bradley McDougald probably has the most pressure on him in camp with the hold-out of Earl Thomas. He played great last year in Kam's spot and is the #1 safety on the roster with Earl missing. He will get lots of time as free safety until or IF Earl Thomas comes back. He needs to play well unless the Seahawks will be very open to an air attack in 2018. My guess is he will have a pro-bowl caliber year.

    Raheem Green #94

Green was the Seahawks 3rd round pick for 2018, and the team has high hopes for him. The Seahawks think Green can be the inside pass rusher that Michael Bennett filled over the last couple years. Watch for his growth and explosion around the middle of the season if he stay healthy.

    Dion Jordan - #95

Dion Jordan was one of my new favorite players from last season. He is dealing with an injury this off-season, but should be ready in a couple of weeks. This is his 4th year in the NFL and should grow by leaps and bounds this year. This is his time to shine, I hope the former 1st round pick takes advantage of it.

    Barkevious Mingo - #51

The Seahawks acquired Barkevious Mingo in the off season from the Colts to help with pass rush. Mingo, another former 1st round pick, has a ton of talent but has never put it together in a season. He had 5 sacks his rookie year, but only 4 since then. Let's hope this is the year he reaches his potential.
