87-Year-Old Man Caught With 104 Bricks of Cocaine [VIDEO]
Police in Michigan pulled an elderly man over during a routine traffic stop, and when he refused a search of his pickup truck, a drug sniffing dog found almost 228 pounds of cocaine in the back.
Police then arrested 87-year-old Leo Sharp for possession of the drug.
Sharp, an Indiana resident, has no prior record with the police, and, according to his lawyer, has never used drugs and claims he is innocent. The man says someone forced him to transport the nearly $3 million worth of cocaine across state lines at gunpoint.
Defense attorneys are still trying to unravel the case, but say there could be a reasonable explanation.
“That’s what we’re looking into… the ‘why?’ It’s a bit early in the process. It’s not what it seems. There’s a lot more to this story,” said attorney Ray Richards in an interview.
The war vet and father of three has been released on a $10,000 bond, but could spend the rest of his life in prison, if convicted.
