One Out Of Every 30 Babies Born in the U.S. is Now a Twin

This country is getting closer to being overrun by twins. And that scares me, because you know in every set of twins, one of them is evil.

According to new data from the CDC, one out of every thirty babies born in this country is now a twin. That's insane. Back in 1980, the rate was one in 53.

The twin birth rate is up 76% in about 30 years, from 18.9 per 1,000 births to 33.2 per 1,000 births.

The main reason is fertility treatments. Fertility drugs and treatments are far more common now than they were 30 years ago and those significantly increase the odds of multiple births.

The other reason? There are more women giving birth in their 30s and 40s and older mothers are more likely to have twins. Scientists don't really know why, they just are.
