The Pasco School District wants to spend $3 million in new money, mostly on teachers, and provide a 3 percent pay increase. The teachers want nearly $15 million in new spending and an 11+ percent pay increase. That's quite a difference. What do you think will happen?

How soon will parents know if school starts Sept. 1 or later? And is there any indication of how much later?

It's not uncommon for teacher unions and districts to disagree about spending, but a $12 million difference? That kind of disparity leads me to believe one of the parties is being unreasonable, but I don't know which.

I'd love an 11% raise, but public employees usually get about 3% when budgets allow. Are they long overdue for one? I don't even know. What is your reaction to all this?
