Pink’s ‘Stupid Girls’ Used In CNN Segment Featuring Sarah Palin

Pink is being associated with former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin but something tells us the sassy singer won’t mind or be cringing in this case. Her song ‘Stupid Girls’ from 2006′s ‘I’m Not Dead’ was used as a music bed by CNN when it ran a photo of Palin holding a bag of Chick-fil-A chicken. So, what’s the significance?

Well, if you’ve been following the fast food chain’s recent rash of bad publicity for its anti-gay marriage stance, the implication is that Palin’s support of the Chick-fil-A makes her a, well, stupid girl. The politico did tweet that she was showing “Support for a great business.” Other Republicans have done the same. But few are the same type of cultural lightning rod that Palin is and it appeared that the news network was taking a swipe at Palin’s politics by pairing her image with the song.

CNN commented on the usage of the song, acknowledging its folly (backpedalling, anyone?) and telling MediaIte: “The music selection was a poor choice and was not intended to be linked to any news story. We regret any perception that they were planned together.”

Perhaps that’s true or maybe someone in the production department wanted to have their political thoughts about Palin made public. It doesn’t seem like a coinkydink to us.
