Schools May Do Away With Algebra – I Agree
My biggest struggle in high school was math, more specifically, algebra. I almost didn't graduate because of it.
I'm not the only one. The author of "The Math Myth and Other STEM Delusions," Andrew Hacker, says "One out of 5 young Americans does not graduate from high school. This is one of the worst records in the developed world." He goes on to say that it's mostly due to Algebra. Hacker also claims that only 5% of all jobs actually use Algebra.
I agree. Why bang our heads on the wall trying to understand Algebra, when classes like Applied Mathematics actually are used in real life situations?
