Wildfires can take a big toll on wildlife, and although most would agree life would be better without rattlesnakes, they actually play an important role in the echo system eating rodents and bugs, and acting as prey to eagles!

Dan Beck, and Joey Chase select 2 rattlesnakes and surgically placed a radio transmitter and a data logger in each. After healing for 24 hours the snakes were set loose, and the study began.

The goal is to track the rattlesnakes a couple times a week for a year and record whether they chose to live in places that have been burned by wildfires, or avoid the burned spots and live elsewhere.
