Scottish alt-rock band Simple Minds made their triumphant return to Seattle last Sunday (Oct. 28), playing a nearly sold-out show at The Moore Theatre.

It's been more than two decades since the band has embarked on a major U.S. tour.

The band's popularity peaked in the '80s -- mainly due to their song "Don't You (Forget About Me)," which went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1985. Many remember it from the hit John Hughes film "The Breakfast Club," which featured The Brat Pack and became a staple in pop culture when it comes to high school films.

But Simple Minds isn't a "one-hit wonder" band. They have had other hits such as "Alive and Kicking" and "All The Things She Said," both of which charted. But the band fell out of popularity among fans in the U.S. in the '90s as their sound didn't resonate with music listeners and they were seen more as a nostalgia act -- or as 'the band who did that awesome song on 'The Breakfast Club.' "

Seattle fans were delighted to see Simple Minds play two full sets, including old favorites, and material off of their current album Walk Between Worlds. Simple Minds lead singer Jim Kerr showed the audience that he still has the energy and drive to perform, keeping the fans happy.
