The Columbia Basin is one of the best places to be for fresh produce in the entire U.S. Asparagus is under way right now. Soon we'll start seeing cherries, but right now you can pick your own strawberries at places like Bill's Berry farm in Grandview.

I saw this on the Tri-Cities Visitor and Convention Bureau website. I've heard of these places but didn't know where they were at. I'm going to go for sure. It will be a fun day with the grandkids. It sounds so cool.

Here are the details for Bill's Berry Farm website:

Pick your own strawberries: U-pick Strawberries: $2.25lb or 20lbs or more for $2.00lbs. Pick quarts and flats available by pre-order: 1qt. $7, 2qts. $13, 4qts. $24, 8qt. flat $44.
Bill's Berry farm also offers educational farm tours for all ages.
Tours include:

  • An age appropriate educational lesson on agriculture in our outdoor classroom
  • Hay ride tour of the farm w/ a stop to pick seasonal fruit or plant a seed
  • A visit with our "Barnyard Buddies" in the BBF petting zoo
  • A donut and apple juice snack (coffee or hot cider for adult tours)

Tours are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings through the month of May. We schedule tours at 9:00am, 10:30am and 12:00pm.
