Sunnyside Man Killed in Second Tractor Accident This Month!

Farm accidents claim the lives of many during the season. An autopsy is scheduled today for the second man to be run over by a tractor and killing him sometimes Saturday.

The body of Maurillio Arredondo Mendoza, 68, was found by a family member in the orchard in Sunnyside on Monday. Apparently the tractor had failed to start and he jumped started it with another vehicle, but was in gear so when it started it lurched forward, trapping him underneath.

Mendoza is the second local farmer to die this month in a tractor accident.Benjamin Mahre, 63, died May 3 while attempting to move a tractor that was stuck.
