I used to live in Richland. Parents there get really upset when you mess with their schools. Because of over-crowding in south Richland elementary schools, the district plans to change the border. I predict the parents will come just short of rioting. Here's what they should do:
Tomorrow I'll have special guests from Richland City and Andy Miller and Leo Bowman from Benton County in the studio to talk about the 9th Annual Benefit Pancake Breakfast at Jefferson Park on the corner of George Washington Way and Symons (across from the Uptown). The event begins at 7 a.m. Saturday.
Richland parents don't want their kids going to Chief Joseph Middle School because that's where the poor kids and minorities are. The school has a stigma. According to the story in the Tri-City Herald, the school district has hired great staff at the school. The only difference is the student body. Are the parents keeping their kids out promoting segregation? Tell us what you think:
I ran into this dog at a Richland park and had to share his photo. His name is Gus and he doesn't let a disability stop him. Gus was running and jumping all over -- mostly playing with children. His owner said he LOVES children and the kids loved him back! He brought smiles to EVERYONE!
