I think men make too big a deal out of Valentine's Day. It's not an opportunity to prove your love. It shouldn't be a day to propose (too cheesy). It's just a chick holiday (we get the Super Bowl). The Sweethearts Comedy Soiree presented by A-One Refrigeration & Heating is featuring Frances Dilorinzo, Brad Upton and Bahiyyih Mudd is at the Kennewick Red Lion on Valentine's Day. Tickets are $70 for couples and $40 for single tickets. The Red Lion is offering a special room rate of just $69 to stay the night!

Don't get me wrong, I love Olive Garden, Red Lobster, P.F. Changs, Texas Roadhouse, etc. I freakin' LOVE them! But when I want to get romantic on Valentine's Day, I'm looking for something a little more authentic, original, unique... not sure of the right word. Where in Tri-Cities, Hermiston, Othello, Walla Walla, etc. are the most romantic locally-owned, non-chain restaurants?

I was really busy on Friday so I never made it to the store. I had a coupon to Safeway, so I had every intention of buying my husband a Valentine, but I never made it. Knowing that saying "I love you" and meaning it is the greatest Valentine possible, I grabbed the reddest thing I could find (a withered pepper bound for the trash) and wrote "Happy Valentine's Day" on it. All three comedians were hilarious but my favorite was Tommy Savitt. The chocolates were delicious, the roses were beautiful. The cream cheese + meat asparagus wraps were delicious. And afterward my group headed back to my house for some Dom Perignon. I'm still a little dizzy but it was worth it! The photo was of me and my hubby at the soiree. What did you do?

There's only one thing that can erase all the hours of listening to people complain about how much they hate Valentine's Day. Can you guess what it is? It's looking at animals holding valentines!
