‘The Munsters,’ which gave television a macabre twist in the mid-60s along with ‘The Addams Family’, is reportedly returning to the small screen.

NBC has ordered a pilot for a one-hour-long ‘Munsters’ reboot from ‘Pushing Daisy’s’ creator Bryan Fuller. Keeping in the tradition of recent shows like ‘Grimm’ and ‘Once Upon a Time,’ the show will be darker than the original campier version. As far as story lines go, this new re-imagined program will focus on how the ‘Munster’ household got together.

Though ‘The Munsters’ wasn’t much of a hit when it ran between 1964 and 1966, Herman, Eddie, Grandpa and the rest of the gang became more popular when the show went into syndication.
