It’s been a couple of years since the project was announced, but don’t go thinking the Spice Girls have given up on the musical inspired by their hit songs.

It just turns out that it takes a little time to zigga zig ah from the pop charts to Broadway.

The musical already has a title — ‘Viva Forever’ — and Jennifer Saunders, star of British TV show ‘Absolutely Fabulous,’ has been working on the script for Tony-winning director Marianne Elliott since last year.

Now, courtesy of Emma Bunton, a.k.a. Baby Spice, we hear that things are still in motion. She said, “I’ve heard a little bit about the story, but it’s top secret. We’ve been in touch with the producer and the writer.”

According to producer Judy Craymer, whose previous works include ‘Mamma Mia!,’ the musical will be “all about female friendship, celebrity and fame” — but it won’t be autobiographical.

Says Craymer, “We live in a world dominated by people wanting to be famous. What the Spice Girls did was before those shows became really what they are, and before the world became slightly obsessed by such shows.”
