If we're placing bets, Bette Midler thinks a forthcoming remake of 1993's Hocus Pocus won't hold a Black Flame Candle to the original.

Midler, who starred alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy in the original feature, isn't too keen on a second pass on the film, and told People as much in an interview published, fittingly, on Halloween.

"I know it’s cheap. It’s going to be cheap!" she said, adding she's not sure who can tackle her character, Winifred Sanderson, as well as she did.

“I’m not sure what they’re going to do with my character...My character is very, very broad and I don’t know who they’re going to find to play that.”

Deadline first reported in December that a Hocus Pocus remake is officially in the works at Disney. The Royals writer Scarlett Lacey will write the story, while David Kirschner, the film’s original producer, will return.

Parker told Watch What Happens Live in 2016 that she'd love to resurrect her role, noting "I think we’ve all been fairly vocal about being very keen."
