A Northwest college sees about 40 bike thefts a year. Campus police put tracking devices on decoy bicycles and when it was stolen the GPS led them to an unexpected place!

Reed College in Portland put a radio transmitter on a bike lock and signaled police when it was cut. Then they followed the GPS tracker hidden in the bicycle to an abandoned home two miles from campus.

When police entered the home, they found the bicycle behind a hidden room covered by a book shelf!!!
The secret room was a "chop shop" where the the bike thief disassembled his loot and then sold off the parts separately.
