A group of Kennewick High students started an unsupervised boxing club called "509 Fight Club" where teens fight each other with boxing gloves. Now students from all over the area come and fight with little or no supervision in private backyards according to news reports. Matches and challenges are promoted on Twitter with another teen as a stand in referee and no medical staff. So far there haven't been any severe injuries but parents are just starting to speak out about their fears.

The leader of the "509 Fight Club" says it was inspired by the old organized Kennewick High fight videos of the 1980's. There have been two events so far with no injuries and the club says that getting head gear and waivers for the fighters is a priority. According to police the fights are completely legal because they are using gloves and the fights are held on private property. Police did say they are watching the new fight club very closely.
