There's nothing like a sweet Walla Walla onion and you might not realize that there are only 10 - 15 farmers that raise the beauties on a spread of about 500 acres in the Walla Walla Valley.

The good news according to the farmers is that this season's crop is looking great and the farmers have begun harvesting the delectable onions that are famous by name alone.

The harvest will run until the end of August and will yield about 650 50 pound units per acre.

This year, Walla Walla Farmer Locati is introducing a red Walla Walla Sweet Onion in limited supply which the famer thinks will have great potential.
