My co-worker Christine Brown asked a coffee shop how the big Foo Fighters, Mumford & Sons concert weekend was. They said it was awesome for business. But Farmers Market vendors had a different experience:

Anticipating 25,000 people downtown last Friday and Saturday, many Farmers Market vendors brought extra produce to town, mixed extra salsa, made extra cupcakes, cut extra natural soap bars, etc. They did not see a surge in business and now are perishable product they need to unload or they might actually lose money from the festival.

There's little doubt restaurants and fun shopping spots near the concert saw a boost, but they also likely had additional vandalism and theft.

Restaurants outside downtown may have seen a boost, or may have been dead as older residents stayed home those nights.

It may depend on who you ask, but Farmers Market did not see a boost.
