The Department of Homeland Security released a statement to Washington State that Russian hackers had unsuccessfully tried to affect the voting in the 2017 elections. The official notice just confirmed what they had shared last year with Washington State representatives according to news reports. They reached out officially to make the official statement and they are

“doing everything we can, utilizing the latest software, best practices and security measures, to keep Washington’s elections safe, reliable and accessible to our citizens”
