When I was on the plane on my way back from Austin TX last week, the young man next to me was playing on his Iphone the whole flight from Dallas/Ft Worth to Seattle.

I was alarmed, but thought I must not understand, and it must be in 'Airplane mode" or something and that must be okay. So, I asked..and he said, 'No I don't think it's okay" then he continued to play on his facebook and other apps as well as texted people.  I didn't mean to eaves drop necessarily but I was in the middle seat and he was by the window.

I really didn't know what to do. I kept thinking I should just say "Really? You'd risk the lives of all of us, so you can play on your phone?"

But, again...I kept thinking, there must be something I don't understand or else why would he be doing that. Maybe I missed the msg from flight crew that it was okay to have your cell phones on for a period?! So many things ran through my mind.
