Andrew, like thousands of Tri-Cities kids, spent a year in the Fruitland building while Highlands Middle School was remodeled. It's an extremely useful facility for that purpose, but it also sits empty for long periods. Is it the best use of the asset?

Richland kids are getting shuttled around this year because of new schools under construction. It's very useful for Kennewick to have Fruitland for that purpose.
But would it be put to better use as a community center? Another alternative school? Another Delta school (emphasizing STEM education)? As a charter school?
What if KSD tore it down to make more parking for Lampson Stadium? Or created another practice field for local athletics?

Perhaps they could build an extension for Tri-Tech and shorten the commute for Kennewick High, Finley and Pasco kids.

Pasco School District wants to build a pre-school facility. That's not a bad idea for Fruitland. Perhaps the district could donate it for the arts center everyone is pushing for. School dancers, musicians and actors could use it during the day.
